The Barnes House

The Barnes House is one of the most eclectic stores in the East—an international fur store and a consummate gift store.

Located in a Victorian two story built in 1895, it would be at home on any of the world's great shopping streets like Newberry Street in Boston or Worth Avenue in Dallas. But its home is at the corner of Cherry and New Streets in historic downtown Macon, Georgia.

The Barnes House became a fur store in 1927 due to the vision and passion of the original Mrs. Barnes, who had a pioneer spirit for business and a love of furs. Her first customers were wealthy locals who selected their furs from samples, which were then ordered from New York.

It's the twenty first century and things have changed at The Barnes House. What was once a small town fur salon is now one of the largest fur stores in the South and is known in fur circles world wide. Its local customers have grown to include both national and international customers.

Furs have changed, too. They're not just for warmth or for the wealthy anymore. Today fur has a new identity—FASHION! The buyers for The Barnes House travel the world to find the latest in fur fashions and fur accessories. Because of this The Barnes House is one of the leading trend setting stores in the fur fashion industry.

Barnes has anything you could possibly want in a fur or fur accessory... even fur rugs. Along with their large inventory of furs, they also provide a full spectrum of fur services.

The Barnes House also includes a unique gift store. Located upstairs, the rooms are filled with specialized items for the home, exquisite bath and body products, beautiful jewelry, books, clothing, glassware, a "pet spa" section and distinctive gifts.

The Barnes House, eclectic, international and wrapped in southern hospitality.
